About Concord

Concord Homes Deserve Expert Care

Concord is New Hampshire's state capital and Justin Vickery's home base. The city offers a rich mix of housing: beautifully preserved Victorian homes in the South End near Pleasant Street, working craftsman bungalows around Eagle Square, and newer construction spreading north toward Canterbury Road. Justin has been working in Concord's neighborhoods for years and knows the quirks of this housing stock, from the original hardwood floors that just need refinishing to the century-old plaster walls that crack and settle every winter. When you call VixFix from Concord, you get a contractor who's already familiar with your neighborhood and can often schedule a same-day visit for estimates.

Home Base

Concord Is Where VixFix Is Based

No drive time at all: VixFix operates out of Concord. Estimates inside the city are often same day, and there is no travel time built into a Concord quote.
Every part of the city: The South End, the West End, East Concord, Penacook, and the Heights each built out in a different era, from Federal and Victorian near downtown to postwar capes and ranches on the Heights and newer construction further north.
Old plaster is normal here: The neighborhoods around downtown are largely pre-1940. Plaster over lath, settling cracks along the same lines every winter, and trim that has been recoated a dozen times are the default rather than the exception.
Small jobs are worth doing: Forty minutes away, a one-hour repair may not justify the drive. In Concord it does, so the punch-list work other contractors decline is genuinely on the table.

Winter Damage

Ice Dams, Frozen Pipes, and What They Do to a Ceiling

Concord gets a real winter, and two things follow from that every year. Ice dams form when heat escaping into an attic melts snow on the upper roof, the water runs down to the cold eave, refreezes, and then backs up under the shingles until it finds its way into the ceiling below. Frozen supply lines in exterior walls and unheated crawl spaces do the same thing faster and with far more volume. Either way the visible result is a stained or sagging ceiling, blistered paint, and sometimes buckled flooring in the room underneath. The fix is not paint. Wet material has to come out, the cavity has to dry, and only then does the ceiling get rebuilt, sealed with a stain-blocking primer, and repainted. Skip the drying step and the stain bleeds back through within a season.

Questions From Concord Homeowners

Is VixFix actually based in Concord?
Yes. Concord, NH is home base for VixFix Contracting and Home Improvement, and owner Justin Vickery works out of the city. That is why Concord estimates are often available the same day.
Will you take a small job in Concord?
Yes. Being local makes short jobs practical: a drywall hole, a door that will not close, a TV mount, a fixture swap, a smoke detector replacement. Call 603-202-5309 and describe it.
My Concord house is over a hundred years old. Is that a problem?
No, it is normal here. Plaster over lath, painted-over trim, settled openings, and original hardwood are what a lot of Concord housing is made of. Any work that disturbs pre-1978 paint is done under EPA Lead-Safe rules.
